Book review: The Divergent Series by Veronica Roth

Hello there lovelies!

I'm a bit late in doing so, but I finally got round to reading the Divergent Series by Veronica Roth.

This trilogy (Divergent, Insurgent, Allegiant) follows the story of Beatrice Prior, who lives in dystopian Chicago. The people of the city are split into 5 factions: Abnegation (the selfless), Erudite (the intelligent), Amity (the peaceful), Candor (the honest), and Dauntless (the brave).

Most people fit into just one faction, however Beatrice fits into 3, thus known as a Divergent. However, this is knowledge she must keep a secret, as if anyone finds out, she will be killed.

This YA series is quite good, and follows most of the thematics and plot structures seen in other dystopian fiction. In fact as I was reading this trilogy it reminded me a lot of The Hunger Games.

I finished this trilogy in two days. It is definitely gripping, and as the plot unfolds, you can't help but want to know the outcome.

I would definitely recommend this series to fans of dystopian fiction, The Hunger Games, and other YA novels. With action, romance, and more it is a trilogy many will and do love.
